SANDER H. GIBSON has been a business law attorney with Gascon & Associates LLP in Montreal, Quebec, since 1983, specializing in entertainment law and commercial – corporate transactions. He was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1976 after having obtained both a Bachelor of Arts (1971) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (1974) from McGill University.
Sander's entertainment practise has focused on feature-film and television transactions, including secured multi-party production financings (on behalf of banks, investors, syndicated lenders and production companies) and co-productions, as well as the representation of Hollywood studios, production companies, distributors, broadcasters, sponsors, creative talent, book authors and publishers, promotion agencies, merchandisers, music festival and special event promoters and financiers.
Sander also acts as commercial and corporate counsel to non-entertainment industry clients, concentrating on joint venture, share, asset and licensing transactions. He acts as Quebec and special counsel to entertainment and commercial lawyers.
Sander has acted as Co-Chairman of, and principal advisor for, the Conferences on Financing, Production, Distribution and Investment in Canadian Feature and Television Film sponsored in Montreal by The Canadian Institute, moderated (and represented the lender in) a mock multi-party financing negotiation for Insight, and has lectured at McGill University's Faculty of Law as well as on financing in the entertainment industry at Concordia University's Faculty of Fine Arts.
Sander is consistently named in LEXPERT as a leading Montreal entertainment lawyer, was named in the National Post’s 2007 Best Entertainment Lawyers in
Montreal and in the 2010 edition (and others) of The Best Lawyers in Canada for Entertainment Law and is named in Who's Who Legal. He is a member of the Entertainment & Sports Law Section of the American Bar Association.
